Nubra Valley is a unique, high-altitude cold desert located 150 km north of Leh, famous for its dramatic sand dunes, double-humped Bactrian camels, and spectacular mountain vistas. Created by the confluence of the Shyok and Nubra rivers, the valley features a striking contrast of green village orchards amidst barren, wind-swept sand dunes. The main attraction is Hunder, where travelers gather to ride the rare Bactrian camels—remnants of the ancient Silk Road trade route—and camp under a clear, star-studded sky.

Carry your Inner Line Permit (ILP) at all times; there are several military checkposts in the valley
Respect the double-humped camels; do not tease, feed them unauthorized snacks, or exceed rider weight limits
Minimize water waste; Nubra is a dry desert region where water is scarce
Keep the sand dunes clean; carry all plastic wrappers and trash back to your camp
