Sangam is the spectacular confluence of two major Himalayan rivers: the Indus (flowing from Tibet) and the Zanskar (flowing from the Zanskar Valley). Located 35 km from Leh near Nimmu village, the confluence is famous for its striking contrast of colors. The Indus appears clear and shiny-green, while the Zanskar is muddy-blue and turbulent. The two rivers meet in a deep valley, surrounded by barren, sand-colored mountains. It is a stunning visual landscape and a popular spot for river rafting in Ladakh.

In winter, the Zanskar freezes completely, creating a white sheet of ice that meets the flowing, clear blue Indus, which is also a spectacular sight.
